Dear Jemma – Letter #5
May 12, 2016
Oh sweet Jemma Grace. Happy Birthday baby girl. I think you are the wildest one yet. Sometimes we call it a bad attitude, whiny or needy. But truth be told I think it’s all because you have a wild fire burning deep within your soul just waiting to ignite the world.
I remember while I was carrying you I heard our Father tell me that you would live up to your name – Jemma, which means little dove – and I so vividly pictured you carrying peace to all those you came across – so gently, so calmly. But now that you are here I can see the picture more fully. Not only do I see you going into this world with a gentle touch, I see you spreading peace and grace like wildfire among those who need it most. You may be wild, and you may be fierce, but never forget who created you that way.
I went through one of the hardest times of my life while I was carrying you. I doubted myself, I was angry, and I often wondered if you knew my heartache. I like to think you did as you kept right beside me when I felt alone. And perhaps you came out a whopping nine pounds because we were both trying so hard to grow strong in those nine months. I’m thankful that during my weakness you just kept growing, keeping strong & staying true to who you were created to be.
And that’s my prayer for you, baby girl. I pray that no matter where this life takes you, that you would keep on track. Don’t waiver for anyone else’s weakness. Stay true to who you are and be strong. You were created for such a time as this. And more now than ever this world needs the peace you carry. But be warned, you will in fact need your fierceness to deliver it. I am honored to watch you grow, to help you train, and send you off like the wildfire you are.
Jemma, today we celebrate your life. We rejoice in the plans that your Heavenly Father has for you. And we declare each and every good thing over you that our Father has said. There is only one Jemma Grace in this world who was created to do what you are called to, and no one could ever do it better than you. Always remember that. Happy Birthday baby girl. I am truly honored and blessed beyond measure to be your mama. Here’s to all the years to come, and the wild adventures that are sure to come with it!
All My Love,
p.s. I will never forget our very first adventure together. Just in case you need a reminder, please read this & watch the video! xoxo
